Requirements for bows and arrows.
Two category of bows traditional and historical.
No bow sights, releases, clickers and stabilisers extending from the bow handle (“riser”) and limbs outline are not allowed. Arrow rests, stabilising the arrow on the string, are allowed, provided they are permanently fixed (ex. glued) on the bow.
Traditional bow: bow made from any material, being similar to but not necessarily an exact copy of known historical bows. This type of bow is characterised by the lack of profiled handle. A slight notch in the handle is allowed, as long as it’s not deep enough to allow the arrow to rest in the bow axis and it’s not deeper than 1/2 of the total handle width measured at the lower edge of the notch. Competitors competing in this bow category can only shoot wooden arrows with feather fletching. There are no limitations as to the type of nock used. Carbon or aluminium arrows not allowed.
Historical bow: bow made entirely from natural materials, being similar to but not necessarily an exact copy of known historical bows. This type of bow is characterised by the lack of profiled handle. A slight notch in the handle is allowed, as long as it’s not deep enough to allow the arrow to rest in the bow axis and it’s not deeper than 1/4 of the total handle width measured at the lower edge of the notch. Competitors competing in this bow category can only shoot wooden arrows with feather fletching and nocks filed in the shaft or made using natural materials. Plastic nocks are not allowed. A competitor shooting wooden arrows with plastic nocks will be classified in the traditional bow category. Carbon or aluminium arrows not allowed.
